NYC Agingâs Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR), under the Administration and Operations Division, is charged with the primary coordination efforts for notice and no-notice emergencies impacting the agency, agency staff, and our extensive provider network which serves older adults. This includes planning, preparing, and responding to all types of emergencies, as well as maintaining the agencyâs Fire and Life Safety and AED/CPR programs. OEPR regularly coordinates with NYC Emergency Management, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and other partner organizations to establish citywide response protocols and provide agency support for emergency response to local and citywide emergency incidents. The Office of Emergency Preparedness & Response (OEPR) manages preparedness plans for the Department for the Aging and its community partners and in the event of an emergency oversees their activation and post activation procedures. New York City is home to an estimated 900,000 to 1.3 million caregivers. Caregiver programs support older New Yorkers and their caregivers as well as kinship caregivers in accessing information and referral, long-term care planning, support groups, counseling, training, respite care and other assistance through our network of community-based providers. Social Adult Day programs support older adults who require assistance with activities of daily living by providing socialization, supervision, personal care and nutrition.  The Program Officer will work within the Caregiver Support Unit which includes the Caregiver and Social Adult Day Programs, and the Social Adult Day (SADC) Ombuds. Under the supervision of the Caregiver Support Senior Director but with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Program Officer will oversee contracts for Caregiver and Social Adult Day programs. Essential to this role is an ability to partner with community programs and support their efforts in delivering quality services to older adults and their caregivers. In addition, good communication skills, attention to detail and enthusiasm to work with older adults and their caregivers and the programs they serve is crucial. Director, SADC Ombuds Office

ADMINISTRATIVE  PROGRAM OFFICE

The Director is responsible for the oversight of activities related to the implementation of Local Law 9 of 2015/2018 which mandates all Social Adult Day Care programs operating in NYC to register and update their registration with NYC Agingâ SADC Ombuds Office and adhere to the New York State Office (NYSOFA) Standards and municipal rules and regulations. SADCâs serve a vulnerable population of New Yorkers with cognitive decline and/or physical frailty and their continuum of care services meets the critical needs of clients and supports caregivers. It is important that the director be dynamic, take initiative and be efficient in their leadership of the Ombuds Office. The director must ensure that the SADC Ombuds team is conducting their assigned tasks to ensure the safety of vulnerable New Yorkers participating in SADC services.  The director will be responsible for the promulgation of all associated Rules to Local Law 9 of 2015/ 2018, and coordination of all efforts with State and City oversight Agencies, Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) plans and the community. The director manages a team consisting of one Registration Coordinator and two Associate Investigators who track complaints and fees, conduct investigations at SAD facilities to respond to complaints and monitor adherence to Standards.  The director will ensure that the mission of NYC Aging will be imbedded in their leadership of the Ombuds Office. Seeking an individual that is passionate about working and protecting the safety and well being of older adults residing in their communities and supports their ability to age in place throughout New York City.  The director must be confident and familiar with process of conducting interviews, gathering information, and preparing documentations for the purpose of making factual determinations of investigations and review of reports that will go before trials and hearings. SNAP-Ed interventions are provided at NYC AGING funded Older Adult Centers (OAC) and at Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORC) throughout the five boroughs of NYC.  Deliverables include nutrition education workshops, quarterly nutrition newsletters, container gardening project, food box distribution projects, health fairs etc.  NYC Aging seeks a SHINE Grant Nutrition Educator to manage the implementation of the Seniorsâ Health Improvement Nutrition Education (SHINE) grant that NYC Aging receives from the New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA).
